My practice moves between writing and curation, each shaping the other in profound and deliberate ways. The exhibitions I curate often emerge from sustained research and writing, allowing themes and artists to unfold across both page and space.
My focus lies on contemporary Indian Art, specifically the South Indian city present-day of Chennai and its recent past, the Colonial Madras. In addition, I am also interested in art-making and craft.
Over the past two decades, I have curated exhibitions for art galleries and museums in India, Korea, and the USA. I have authored books on art, and my writing has appeared in reputed art magazines and academic journals.
I am an independent curator and researcher with a Master’s degree in Art History from Chitrakala Parishath, Bangalore (2006), and training in curation from the University of Essex through a Charles Wallace Fellowship (2012–2013). I was formerly Senior Curator at the Piramal Museum of Art, Mumbai, and a guest lecturer at the Government College of Fine Arts, Chennai.
Rooted in Chennai and presently based in Cincinnati, USA, I am also beginning to engage with the art history and art-making of this region, hoping to explore it through future exhibitions and writings.
